Alyssa Tigner is a second-year medical student at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s McGovern Medical School. Raised in Granbury Texas, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University in 2016. She then scribed full-time in an emergency room for a year before beginning medical school. As a first-year medical student, Alyssa participated in simulation competitions hosted by the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and Student Initiative in Medical Simulation (SIMS). She also participated as an actor at the simulation competition at the Texas College of Emergency Physicians (TCEP) conference and is a co-director of curriculum of the SIMS organization at McGovern Medical School. Alyssa views simulation as an invaluable resource and is excited to be facilitating nationwide exposure to simulation as a learning tool for her fellow medical students.
